Chapter Sixty One: The Controversy of the Darker Sinister Agent
The Purple Junket, more formally referred to as the Prudence Wars, had been staged faithfully throughout the centuries, unhindered nor postponed, for so many consecutive years now, and it has seen most of its glory by the triumphant resolution of the questions put forth in the Untarnished Cup of Miraculous Valor, as well as seeing into the positive fruition of its share of the shameful tragedies that have been recorded in the historical books about some of the most horrific mishaps to ever happen in the middle of the Game, especually in ascertaining the value of a competition of this importance and magnitude.
Some of these recorded accidents have resulted to more painful deaths than the necessity of the others. While some extraordinary events lived in infamy for quite so long, some of the notable occurences gradually began after the aftermath of such incidents have been felt in a ripple of certain distrust and dishonor across the Fellowship, and these consequences have somewhat affected the integral part of the staging of the Prudence Wars like it was practiced with the faultless nature of the "immaculate" event as it was once considered in the moment of its inception.
The most despicable version of these accidental happenings that deeply tarnished the reputation and integrity of the Purple Junket's ability to favor the fate of those Combs whose destiny was already written in the stars by virtue of its corroborative value, i.e., to state and testify to the facts that one's fate has been solemnly determined: to succeed, to flourish, to thrive in all material respects, as well as in the corresponding substantive regulation, in order to provide for the certification of the results from which the Group of Seven's coat-of-arms must seal all the parameters to indicate the proper resolution of the desired Question that was entrusted to the integrity of the Untarnished Cup itself.
The Group's deliberations of the facts and premises that have been affected quite convulsively by the lack of implorable fate in the entirety of the proceedings, either as an anomaly of the procedures of the Untarnished Cup, nor if it was a pre-existing weakness of the scoring system involving the critical stage of the Sinister Agents. While the true reason for the impasse that led to the Group's resignation leading to a checkmate, which effectively dims the carriage of judgment for the award of the Question, and the reasons therefor was never ascertained, this particular example became a dangerous precedent despite the Group's best efforts to spend quite a lengthy time in its sordid investigation that followed the said controversy.
Aside from the main subject of the controversy stated above, most of those who witnessed this particular edition of the Purple Junket was almost too sure that a corrupt scheme was happening behind the curtain, and nobody actually believes that the constellations themselves will fail to communicate the fates of those Combatants participating in that particular battleground, especially in the middle of all the critical darkness and substances combined.
Even the Opening Ceremony for that Purple Junket was investigated to eliminate suspicion that the failure of the Prudence Wars was connected to a clever attempt to actually steal the crown jewels since no one has, effectively, been anointed to wear the destiny of the passing Authority to rule the fabric of the Fellowship into a one cohesive society.
However, the investigation by the Brokerage Firm has reached a dead-end. Not a single precious stone was missing from the Crown.
But while no winner was eventually announced as the rightful champion at that time, many of those in the Fellowship (primarily the Conservatives) expressed concern if the current Firm can operate under the full-pledge efficacy of the stars, since no ceremonial ruler was foretold by the constellation that is meant to guide the common destiny of the Fellowship.
It was then that the first Regency was appointed.
This controversy is known in the pages of the book as the "Secrets of the Darker Sinister Agent." Everyone remembers it very vividly up to this day.

You know what the Fellow said - in Italy, for
thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare,
terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced
Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the
Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly
love, they had five hundred years of democracy
and peace - and what did that produce?
The cuckoo clock.
