Chapter Forty Seven: Preparation for the Drawing of Combatants

The Commissioner of Games have met numerous times already with the important persons in the Brokerage Firm as the Prudence Wars prepares for one of the main events of the competition, referred to in the tradition of antiquity as the candid selection of the legitimate Combatants or simply, the "combs."

The pre-existing rules have not been changed for many centuries now, and the current Commissioner of Games was not keen on deviating from the same historical significance of the Prudence Wars. This ancient tradition of the archrivalry between the Potioneers and the Dark Masters must always remain devout to the clarity of its own classical significance, and must be permitted in continuing to play by the same rules as contested by their great ancestors. It may sound too sentimental, but this is the correct path in moving forward for reasons later to be revealed in the most proximate future.

It is for this major premise that the Commissioner of Games leads the population in the lighting of the Brokerage Cauldron, in preparation for the drawing of the names of the Combs through the intricate process of the "Sampling of the Charms" that virtually hosts the many names entered into in a "globe of water," as willing competitors submits themselves, willing and able" for a chance to be picked to play by the dangerous Prudence Wars, after the preliminaries have been made by both races.

The Sampling of the Charms is an ancient tradition bestowed by the Brokerage Firm to every tenured Commissioner of Games as his exclusive domain in an ancient ceremony that ordains the newly created Commissioner of Games, consisting of several rituals as originally proposed by the great Potioneer "Ezra." Although little knowledge is known about this mysterious Potioneer, his legacy seems to be destined to last forever.

There are many "signs" to which this conclusive reasoning alludes in complicated literature, but mainly the evidence invoked in the complex premises presented is the existence of the mechanism for the Sampling of Charms itself. Its intricate magical performance has always been received to be a solemn selection according to the will of the two separate ancestral roots that governs the indoctrination of the chosen Combs.

This year's Drawing of the Combatants is expected to be an occasion of full of pageantry, excesses, and glittery shows, as the Dark Masters are trying to impress the spectators in order to gain favor (and distract them) to put into competition the question about the Steel of Willows. The Commissioner of Games is well aware of this intention to favor this question above everything else, and the Group of Seven is somewhat also cognizant of this intention without having the Group found to be guilty of being tampered by undue influence.

How the process of granting the question of the Steel of Willows in the coming days will be unclear because somewhat a form of magic is involved. But this particular question will be chosen with fairness, while the most qualified Combatants will also follow the faithfulness of their rightful draw.

It will be a normal Prudence Wars, as always,  but the pawns are already in place. The deception is starting right now, and many are legally blind as to what the law actually entails (with its many interpretations) that will put strain in the traditional nature of the games.
