Chapter Forty Two: The Sinister Oath

There are exactly two figures of a man that can be glimpsed through the darkness. They are both standing near the open window, while the light from the full moon weakly enters the room. They are in the middle of a confidential conversation with their voices down. The exchange was purely an emotional topic and very secretive, indeed.

"Have they chosen the members of the Group of Seven, already?" one of the figures asked.

"Yes. Yes, they did. Earlier this day," the other replied. Both of them knew what this means for the duration of this year's Prudence Wars.

"The stars are rather very clear in their message. Something dark is about to happen, and yet despite the certainty of the event from happening, there is a murky detail about it. You do understand as well?"

The other figure nodded. "Yes. I do understand. Go on."

"It seems that the murkiness of the events that must happen is a result of fate that one must figure out for himself. Do you know what this mysterious substance is?"

The figure was confident enough that the other person whom he is speaking to really understands where he is going with this attempted elucidation.

"Predestination," he simply said. The voice was weak.

"That is correct. And something strange will happen if a person must contradict the will of fate, you do realize what was happening?"

"Of course."

"This event is bound to happen, and the time is now. Someone is orchestrating everything that is about to transpire. They are trying to create another Werewolf in order to lead the Defiant Institution. This is about to happen when?"

This question startled the other person. The prophecy is very chilling in its detail.

"When the force of steel comes," he managed to reply.

"Yes."

There was a moment of very brief silence, then he continued.

"The only way to mete out such punishment is for a Sinister Agent to break his Oath during the Prudence Wars. The Commissioner of Games has been empowered ever since to make this decree to safeguard the crown jewels. Who, then, will take the place of this unfortunate person?"

There was a long silence. The answer to this query is unspeakable horror.

"I guess that would be me," he simply declared.

"The Oath must prevail, sir," the other man replied. "May the moon and the star bless you. I am already old and my time has passed. Let me see this day of liberation while I am still alive. Let us fulfill this mission together."
