Chapter Sixteen: Symbols of Faith
The universe started with space and time, from the very beginning. There was nothing but voidness travelling at a constant, relative speed, as the universe continues expanding with direct regard to the time element. Many proposes the theory that once this behavior which defines the dynamics of space and time suddenly reached its saturation point, the whole universe will collapse, and a big explosion will abruptly happen (probably the second "Big Bang"), destroying everything that there is in its wake.
The theme of space and time will repeatedly become a concern in this story, as it is also important and belabored in the plot of other books that might intersect herewith, whether related or not in the conflicts raised in the circumstances of this particular dimension, or the belief in a higher power, with the individual style of the storytelling notwithstanding.
It will suffice to assume for now that such parallel exists, and, within our common knowledge, a particular place in this universe becomes acknowledged as the home of humanity, no matter how miniscule the particles are systematically moving within this infinitely expanding voidness, with direct relationship to the scientific statement of the theory of relativity.
Everything within these dimensions are contained parallel to each other, and many believe that the cessation of the universe may be prevented by knowing the properties of how the universe behaves in the systematic order of all created things, with respect to this dynamics in a certain appointed time.
Whether the universe just presented itself in this current form, as if like an accidental occurence or if a higher power was, indeed, responsible to the order and the laws of matter governing everything that has been so far articulated herein, this topic still remains a complete mystery, which needs further evidence from a more exhaustive inquiry. The state of the universe is a mystery of huge magnitude for someone to just figure it out by merely considering its own inherent intricacies.
Now faith becomes an important part of the equation, since accepting the universe as it is, without fully knowing its history and how it came to be, requires a certain form of faith that this universe existed for the greater good where humanity must thrive in its common home, where the human specie must compulsory live. Faith, therefore, is present within these premises by default. There is no other option available, like to deny the truth of its existence, but to accept without the need to prove that this universe, indeed, started from somewhere. This is very evident by means of inductive reasoning.
The truth about our relationships is held to be true, in whatever form, and it doesn't care about the agents that becomes the actors of all these recognizable emotions. It is assumed that a certain Potioneer or a Dark Master will feel the same love that can be felt by an ordinary human being reading this book. The suspension of disbelief even magnifies the conflicts presented within the circumstances of the story that put most characters in situations that test their true determination, grit, courage, or hope.
Then, it is now fair to say that these beliefs are dependent on the revelations made, which must manifest in visible things or recognizable invisible things that are acted out by unbiased actors under the duress of a certain standard of proof.
The symbols of faith, therefore, are needed to attribute meaning to something that exists. Even the great ships that circumnavigated the world have been given an immortal name, and the greater name that the Religious hold so dearly in their hearts symblolizes many things, like mercy and compassion. The use of the relevant symbols ultimately magnify the faith itself, becoming a constant reminder regarding the same substance of that faith by means of its significant instrumentalities.
A simple stone has its meaning, too, by determining its role, as well as the wind blowing from the East, for example, and these absolute truths can go on and on, in an endless loop of human attribution.
