Chapter Eighteen: The Secretive Agency of Periods
They are here. The time travellers always arrive just in time. Always in the exact moment, as long as the precise coordinates are known to journey back to a specific time segment in the past.
And they are here for a purpose. They are here for an important reason.
Some readers may suppose that this is all about the crown, the gems, and its corresponding powers, but it is not the desired purpose at this point in time, really.
As most of the time travel to be sanctioned by a central authority, this journey was planned a long time ago that has been duly authorized for the general welfare of man's quest to improve the future condition.
This is for humanity's sake, a major effort to save what was left of the past. A rescue mission if anyone would like to make it shivalrous and call it as such.
This is entirely true. This is not a reckless movement to spend idly on a certain period of time. Not to be considered a pointless journey, of course, but an important meeting with past circumstances that needed more elucidation. A noble cause, indeed, and a gesture of a treasured friendship.
The office of the Secretive Agency of Periods is not considered to be a mundane effort to save an ungrateful world from the circumstances of historical wrongs, but to give it hope in clarifying (or cleansing) what has already been done. To hate the sin and then love the sinner is a charism that is harder to achieve than to actually profess a certain form of faith that reflects such essential belief. An excessive effort in this regard will be required by time.
The whole point of this period excursion is to save the Potioneers from the threat of extinction. And while aggression was seemingly on their side, the motivation did not come from their own responsibility, but a product of manipulation by Lucifer the Devil, the Dark Prince, to hand these Potioneers, without too much effort, their own selfish destruction.
But the crown holds a certain power that would demand greater efforts to plan the complete eradication of the Board of Potions, as well as the entire race of Potioneers, in order to let the darkness win. Although not every darkness is as evil as the demons can be, it is more susceptible to dangers and volatility, however.
But the dark materials are more vulnerable to the manipulative tendencies of all evil causes, so the Dark Masters shall not fall from the temptation of powers that may be offered by the voidness' lack of elaborate enlightenment. Time travellers and Historians alike have consecrated themselves to the lifelong service in stopping certain periods of belligerence in the timeline, essentially like this particular case.
The past is gone, but time heals.
Time kills but the past gives wisdom.
A paradox, indeed. An Agency of Periods.
Journey of Causes. A junket. An important endeavor.
