Chapter Ten: The Mages
In so far as the division of the setting of this story is concerned, where most of it was made on account of two main races, which is to say, within the capable Potioneers and the competent Dark Masters, there are more that is left to say far and beyond than the two major colonies as described by the earlier chapters. It is safe to say that the mystery beyond what was physically obvious transcends the boundaries of magic as it relates to the substantive form of the predetermined actors.
While Illustrators are known to inhabit these lands still, some Magicians has taken the option of desiring to be someone else, other than being a "shapeshifter," and has taken the solemn duty to remain in the Homeland, to guard its sanctity while the liberation is pending, and purposely waiting. They are now known as the Mages, whose main purpose was to bridge the gap between what was lost, and what is to be regained. And in between those path lies the journey to the Second Diaspora.
The conflict that once plagued these lands are essentially the same when the Magicians were still in full possession of these sacred lands, until their own gullible kindness has brought their own kind into a humiliating downfall, and defeated their purposive causes which led to a chaotic chain of events. After such an unimaginable fate, the Magicians have split their civilization to fit into an untimely escape. But there are those chosen few who decided to remain, whether or not they eventually meet their own demise in this place by courageously deciding to stay, is a fate they are willing to embrace.
The Mages somewhat survived, and they have regained significant power by natural selection, although not as powerful as the Magicians as they were before.
But still, gaining enough power to face a daunting, faceless enemy, was a product of a systematic evolution.
However the progress may be, the Mages are not foolish enough to launch a surprise attack against the Potioneers, or even the Dark Masters, because they are clearly outnumbered and only a buffoon would try to attempt such audacity. They are, like them, a victim of a much greater conspiracy that is deeply (and shamelessly) concerted, and orchestrated by a powerful mind owned by the father of lies, and the great perpetuator of deceit.
There is nothing to be gained by foolishly attempting the impossible, because the ignorance of the status quo will always retaliate from any attack that disturbs its own peace. It is worthless to consider a formal war that will only result to the unnecessary shedding of blood, especially when the belligerents who would suffer the consequences of battle are both innocent and manipulated by someone else.
So the Mages decided to stay in this story to prepare a way for the advancing forces once the Tribulation begins. Even before the Magicians where fooled and was banished, the Story Board has already read the prophecy regarding the Tribulation, what it actually means, and how it will happen. The Reader has, since then, ascribed legitimacy to the fluency of this strongly worded Prophenese. And it is now bound to happen, whether or not the proper timing has come or if the occurence of the fact happens by surprise.
There is a portal somewhere here, in these sacred lands, to be able to support the return of the Second Diaspora to the ultimate destiny of the terms of this particular Prophenese. Whatever that means, the Story Board has made for certain about the unfolding of a predetermined event about a hidden gateway (i.e., the portal) that will be used on the final days of this horrifying Tribulation to come.
And so far, the Mages have got it right.
